Stunning heritage colonial home nestled on the base of the Port Hills of Christchurch with a rural outlook and country feel, but only a few minutes drive from the city centre. On almost 2/3 of an acre and surrounded by 150 year old eucalyptus trees our property has meandering garden pathways filled with old world flowers. Our authentically restored home Circa 1857 is one of the oldest in our city and is listed with the Historic Places Trust. We welcome visitors from all over the world with 6 charming bedrooms for accommodation and scrumptious home cooked breakfasts included in our rates using fresh eggs from our own free range hens and organically grown fruits, vegetables and herbs from our garden whenever available. Our entire home has undergone a massive restoration well beyond its former glory which has been widely featured in the local, national and international press. We usually serve our guests breakfast in our huge private guest lounge/library which gets the early morning sun and also has a massive fireplace just in case. Our home is furnished with eccentric collections, comfortable antiques, vintage photographs and lots of freshly cut flowers. With such a beautiful garden setting Glenmore House has been used for weddings and private parties in addition to being a homestay. We also host garden and house tours for the Historic Places Trust. For an additional charge many of our guests eat dinner here. Specialties include herb crusted lamb loin with dill potatoes or grilled salmon with homemade minestrone, both followed by a lovely steamed pudding or apple and tamarillo pie topped with fresh cream. We are delighted to share our insider’s knowledge of the best places to see, the best cafes and beaches, the best daytrips. Above all we strive to make our guests feel at home in our home and make their stay here really special.
