St Genevieve Missouri Bed and Breakfast near Mississippi River
Many guests tell us they begin to relax the minute they step into our expansive entrance hall. We're not sure what makes this happen, but we suspect it's the combination of the soft yellow painted walls, the nearly twelve foot ceilings, polished wood floors, tall windows hung with lace curtains, and simple country antiques working togethor to create an ambience that is both quietly elegant and relaxed and friendly. No stuffiness here; no clutter and no country cute. This is an inn and gardens that even husbands find comfortable.
Early morning coffee (delivered to the 2nd floor hall for sipping in bed or on one or the porches), a jar of pretzels by the bed for midnight snacking, and chilled bottled water are always available. Our substantial breakfasts combine hearty midwestern ingredients, locally smoked meats, and seasonal fruits creating menus that are special but familiar. Perhaps, 2-inch high carmelized French toast with pecans and apricot preserves topped with a dollop of sour cream and fresh fruit, grilled sausages, raspberry sorbet, wholewheat walnut blueberry bread with orange butter, or . . .
In the words of a very satisfied guest, "What a great get-away! We had a wonderful time - more than we expected. This was our first B&B, but will not be our las because we will be back."
