Northwood Inn, Ocean City, New Jersey
The Northwood Inn, a gracious 1894 Queen Anne Victorian, was totally restored by the present innkeepers, Marj and John Loeper. John's experience as Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission, wooden boat builder and custom home builder was the perfect groundwork for renovating and maintaining the integrity of the Northwood, one of the first 200 homes built on the island. Today the inn with it's eight distinctively decorated guest rooms immediately welcomes you on arrival with its large wrap-around porch lined with Carolina rockers. All rooms have private baths, paddle fans, clock radios, hair dryers and include daily maid service. Also included is the complimentary use of the inn's bicycles and beach tags. Breakfast is always a treat, from the fresh seasonal fruit to one of Marj's home-baked muffins, scones or coffee cakes. On weekends breakfast also includes one of the inn's specialty entrees such as blueberry pancakes, baked apple french toast or cheese puff accompanied by bacon, sausage or Canadian bacon. Enjoy the Northwood all four seasons: Summer - beach and boardwalk; Fall - bird watching and antiquing; Winter - quiet walks on the beach and lazing in the hot tub under the stars; Spring - tulips, crafts and street fairs.
