Four Kachinas Inn, Santa Fe, New Mexico
Four Kachinas Inn is located 4 1/2 blocks from the Plaza which is the center of the Downtown Historic and Commercial District. This is a ten minute walk unless you stop to window shop. The Inn itself is located in the Don Gaspar Historic District.
The Inn consists of 3 buildings: the landmark Digneo Cottage (2 rooms); the newer Kachina building (4 rooms) and the trading post/guest lounge, constructed of adobe blocks made on the property. The Digneo Cottage was built by Carlo Digneo who was one of the stonemasons that the Archbishop brought over to build his cathedral.
All rooms are furnished in southwestern style. Most of the furniture is handmade of wood from an old barn on the property. Floors are either Saltillo tile or pine. All rooms have kachina dolls, art by Native American artists and Navajo rugs.
An expanded continental breakfast is served in guest rooms between 7:30 am and 9:00 am. (somebody just needs to be awake enough to open the door). Innkeeper John Daw has been the Best Baker in 3 of the last 6 years at the County Fair. Breakfast includes: fresh baked pastry or breads, orange juice, coffee or tea, fresh fruit and yogurt. A simple self service tea is served in the guest lounge.
