Joseph Ambler Inn, North Wales, Pennsylvania

The Joseph Ambler Inn began as a dream for Richard Allman. Allman, an established Restaurateur in Chestnut Hill first fell in love with the property in 1983. At that time the 12 acres on which the Joseph Ambler Inn now resides was a working horse farm. It was his hope to turn this beautiful estate into a private residence. After traveling through New England and staying at many of the charming bed and breakfasts along the way, Allman quickly transformed his idea of a residence into the reality of operating a small bed and breakfast of his own.

Upon opening, the Joseph Ambler Inn consisted of 15 guestrooms located in the Farmhouse and the Coreybeck Cottage. In 1987 the Stone bank-barn was renovated to include the restaurant, bar, the Wheelwright room (a small banquet area), and 13 additional guestrooms. The doors to the restaurant opened and the Inn also began doing small private dinners and conferences.

In 1997, Allman acquired the Thomas Wilson House and moved the building to the grounds of the Inn. In addition to restoring this building to include an additional 10 overnight rooms, the kitchen and banquet facilities were also expanded allowing the Inn to accommodate larger weddings, additional conferences as well as expanding the existing dinner business.

Never one to let moss grow under his feet, Allman undertook the enormous project of moving the John Roberts house to the property in 2003. This house was restored to include 15 top of the line guest suites as well as two conference/dining rooms on the first floor.

Richard Allman and his wife Allison are hands on operators of this wonderful Country Inn.
