Olde Country Inn, Shelter Island Heights, New York
The Olde Country Inn at Shelter Island is a charming partly restored, partly renovated hotel that dates back to 1886. It is a family owned B&B/inn situated on a quiet island off the east end of Long Island. It is accessed by either of two ferry boat companies which operate on both the north and south shores of Shelter Island. The Inn operates daily, year-round.
Our small and intimate restaurant and pub features a highly acclaimed French chef trained in Provence. The restaurant is open summer season, 6 days/wk; winter season, 4 days/wk. All of our rooms are individually and beautifully decorated with antiques and wicker. They have individual control of A/C and heat. Music is piped in to the nine rooms in the main building. Our two most special rooms have Jacuzzis.
Shelter Island has an interesting shoreline surrounded by calm waters "sheltered" between the two forks of Long Island. It boasts its natural beauty as well as the New England ambience and charm of winding roads and Victorian architecture.
All of this ... just a couple of hours from New York City. Just wait 'till you get on the ferry. You'll never want to leave.
