Designed by Richard Sharp Smith, the supervising architect for the Biltmore House, and built in 1894, Clayton Bed and Breakfast is a charming reminder of Brevard's gracious past. The elegant home is fully air-conditioned and the ten-foot ceilings on the main floor, the open balcony surrounding the upstairs, fine antiques, relaxing sunrise and sunset porches, private balcony, spacious yards and wonderful view of the mountains all make this Bed and Breakfast very exquisite. You are "in town on the front porch" and "in the mountains on the back porch." A large front yard with a magnificent oak tree (and an occasional white squirrel) invites you to enjoy the serenity of town from rockers on the verandah. Or experience a spectacular mountain view from the tranquility of the rockers and glider on the back porch and lovely, private, backyard with another magnificent oak tree.
And to top it off, we are conveniently located! One block off Main Street, yet located on a quiet street, we are the closest lodging to Brevard's popular shopping district. A ten minute drive to Pisgah National Forest with its many waterfalls, picnic areas, hiking and biking trails, riding stables and rivers for fishing, canoeing, rafting, and tubing, etc.
