Besserrae Bed & Breakfast, Taylors, South Carolina
What is today "Besserrae" began as a 2-room settler's cabin in 1850. The original cabin was added on to in 1894 to create the most stately home in Taylors. It was constructed to be a bed & breakfast, but it did not open as such for over 100 years. The home has recently been designated "historic" by the South Carolina Department of Archives, and is now under consideration by the National Register. Also on the property is a cottage, originally built in the 19th Century as a post office, now serving as a 3-room suite for the B&B. The cottage includes a full-service kitchen and a private front porch. The property includes 2 acres of century old trees and camelia bushes along with azaleas, rhododendron, roses, bulbs and flowers locally renown for the beauty. The grounds also include a hammock, a small nature path, and a reflective labyrinth. Suitable for the romantic getaway and the business traveler alike.
