Casa Blanca Bed And Breakfast, San Antonio, New Mexico
Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
Casa Blanca, located in historic San Antonio, New Mexico, was originally built as a Victorian farmhouse in 1880. The 24-inch-thick walls keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A large sweeping veranda surrounds the front of the house. The rooms are decorated with an eclectic array of southwestern Indian and Mexican art, original photography, and antiques. Casa Blanca is eight miles from the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge, which is a spectacular area for birdwatchers, naturalists, hikers, and wildlife photographers. During the winter months the visitor can observe sandhill cranes, herons, snow geese, ducks, and perhaps even an endangered whooping crane. The refuge is also home to pheasants, deer, turkeys, coyotes, and a multitude of other birds and wildlife.
