Welcome to The Thompson House Bed & Breakfast. We believe this may be the closest you can get to being able to go back to Grandma's house. Do you remember waking up to the smell of breakfast cooking , or maybe running inside and letting the big screen door slam because you could smell fresh baked cookies? Did you ever stand and eye the big banister knowing you were absolutely not allowed to slide down? Maybe you would just like to sit on the porch and rock. We have all that and more to take you back a few years.
Located just outside Mount Airy's city limits, The Thompson House opened as a Bed & Breakfast in the summer of 2001. It is a large Victorian style house that was built in 1907,and was called Thompson's Boarding House. Immigrants artisans brought over to work at the granite quarry stayed there.The house has lots of hand carved woodwork, high ceilings and many original fixtures. The Thompson House B&B is Christian owned and operated.
