A majestic Colonial Revival mansion overlooking Colonial Lake in downtown historic section of Charleston, considered “America’s Most Historic City.” Built in 1900, this imposing white home has a semicircular portico with four giant Ionic columns and expansive piazzas. The interior contains Adam woodwork from the circa 1800 Belvedere Plantation before it was demolished in 1925. Intricate carved mantels, moldings, wainscoting and nautical friezes adorn the two floors and rooms.
The present owner formerly owned Two Meeting Street Inn. Having over 20 years experience, David is keenly aware of varying needs of guests. Large first floor public rooms are filled with extensive collections of antiques, silver and Canton china. Library-gathering room includes TV, VCR and books galore. The formal Dining room hosts the continental-plus breakfasts served on china with sterling silver include fresh fruit, juices, hot muffins, breads and beverages.
Considered on of Charleston’s finest homes, it is always shown during the Spring Fall Historic Homes Tours where visitors view the first floor and landscaped gardens.
