Trebor Mansion Inn, Guilford, Maine

Guilford Maine Bed and Breakfast near Foxcroft Academy

High on a hill in the Lakes Region of central Maine sits an architectural treasure known as the Trebor Mansion Inn. Built in 1830 and once owned by a United States Senator, the Trebor Mansion's origins are shrouded in mystery. Although it was widely held by the locals to be "haunted", and didn't even have electricity and plumbing in the main structure until 1976, the original woodwork and stained glass windows were preserved, and it is still crowned by its original slate roof. Today the Mansion's elegant guest rooms welcome travelers from all over the world. Our three acres of hilltop lawns with mature oaks and sugar maples look down on the the Piscataquis River, and you are welcome to laze about on the verandah or take a stroll about the grounds. We have picnic areas, swings and benches for your enjoyment. Or you can saunter 400 feet or so down to the historic Carnegie Library on our front lawn. The guests have the run of the Inn---a 5000 square foot structure which is private from the owners quarters---with a verandah, a wrap-around porch, and three balconies. Artwork, books and eclectic furnishings can be found in every room. We try to treat our guests as visiting friends, while giving them as much space as they desire. The atmosphere is informal. You may do as you please.
