Waltonia Lodges, Ingram, Texas

Waltonia Lodges consist of 16 cottages situated on 10 tree-covered acres. It sits on the bank of the headwaters of the Guadalupe River, having approximately 600 feet of river frontage. The hole of water in front of Waltonia is about one mile long and fifty yards wide. This whole area is available for swimming, boating, and fishing. The cabins are situated in a horseshoe shape around a playground area of approximately two acres. Each cabin has its own Bar-B-Q pit and picnic table. Waltonia is located off Hwy. 39 between Hunt and Ingram. It is ten miles from Kerrville. Fredericksburg is thirty-two miles away, San Antonio is sixty-five miles, and Austin is just over one hundred miles. The land had been in the Secor family since 1920. The first cabins were built in 1923. Thornton Secor, the present owner-manager, is the third owner generation owner-manager. Waltonia is a very family-oriented place with something to do for guests of all ages. Thornton Secor, the present owner, is very animal oriented so there is usually a vast array of birds and animals for the guests to enjoy. Some often seen animals are baby miniature goats and baby pot bellied pigs. There are usually several varieties of pheasants, many varieties of bantam chickens, geese, and ducks on the grounds.
