Thomas Benton Gray House is a two-story post Victorian home built in 1886 near New Salem by Mr. Gray as his family residence. It is a Historic Illinois Centennial Farm, rich in family history and tradition. Everett (great grandson of Thomas Benton Gray) and Judy Dean moved into the house in 1964 and in 1975 Everett renovated the house, updating it again in 1996 keeping the original style of the house intact. In May of 1996, Gray House was officially opened as a Bed and Breakfast. Everett is an accomplished woodworker and has a working sawmill located on the premises; walnut, cherry and oak are used extensively in the renovation.
