The Carriage House Bed and Breakfast is located in Grinnell, Iowa, blocks away from Grinnell College. Located in a picturesque Victorian home, the Carriage House is a popular, well-loved destination, attracting guests with its location and reasonable prices (call for prices). Innkeepers Ray and Dorothy Spriggs do their best to create a welcoming, pleasant environment for their guests, and are rewarded by their bed and breakfast's popularity with new and return guests alike.

The main attraction in Grinnell is Grinnell College, the first college to be established west of the Mississippi in 1846. Other notable sights are the older buildings in the picturesque downtown area, which is slated for renovation in the near future. The Carriage House takes its name from Grinnell's earlier fame as the home for the Spaulding Manufacturing Company, which made carriages and later automobiles until it shut down in 1916.

Each of the six rooms in the Carriage House has its own private bathroom, and of course breakfast is provided, as stated in the name. The Carriage House is known for its porch swing on the front porch overlooking the well-tended garden, and for a parlor with a fireplace at the front of the house. Dorothy also makes fresh Irish soda bread every morning for her guests along with an array of homemade jams.

Other than breakfast, no other meals are offered, and unfortunately, the Carriage House cannot house pets. The innkeepers request that guests check first before bringing children, to make sure that they accommodate them. The Carriage House is an interesting and vibrant experience in Grinnell, and should not be missed!
