Built as a private house in the 1800's, it is said that malevolent ghosts pushed the original owner's children down the stairs to their deaths and later their mother from a balcony to her death. No one could stand to live there, so it was converted into a funeral parlor. The ominous atmosphere and unexplained happenings drove even that away, and the building was finally converted to the hotel that remains today. It is said that occupants can still hear the faint noise of the children falling!
