Butler Greenwood Plantation, Saint Francisville, Louisiana
Saint Francisville Louisiana Bed and Breakfast near Rosedown Plantation
A 1790's plantation in Louisiana's scenic Audubon country where the bird artist painted 1/3 of his Birds of America, Butler Greenwood is still owned and occupied by members of the original family. The National Register-listed antebellum house is filled with rare antiques, including the area's finest original formal Victorian parlor.
Extensive grounds feature hundreds of live oaks and 19th-century gardens. Overnight accommodations in six private cottages with plenty of historic charm scattered across peaceful plantation grounds, around the duck pond or at edge of steep wooded ravine.
House tours daily 9 to 5, Sunday 1 to 5; B&B rates include main house tour. This is *the* tour for historical accuracy and authentic antiques, conducted by resident author whose children are the eighth generation of the family here. Located between New Orleans and Natchez on the Great River Road.
