Flying L Ranch B&B/Retreat Center, Glenwood, Washington
The Flying L Ranch B&B/Retreat Center is located on the sunny eastern slope of the Cascade Range, nestled in the ponderosa pines and meadowland of the Glenwood Valley at the base of the giant volcano, 12,276-ft. Mt. Adams. The 100-acre retreat is just a 2-hour scenic drive from Portland and 40 minutes north of the Columbia River Gorge.
Built in 1945 by the Lloyd family as their fly-in home, the ranch opened for guests in 1960. Currently owned and operated by Jeff Berend and Jacquie Perry. Whether your stay is for one night or one week, you will feel right at home--especially when you breakfast on Mt. Adams Huckleberry hotcakes and maple syrup in the old fashioned cookhouse dining room.
You'll love the rooms and cabins, most of them named after famous (and not-so-famous) cowboys of the west. Experience the tranquility and beauty of the ranch's nature preserve--walking, hiking or skiing, depending on the season-where you may see deer, hear an owl, smell the wildflowers, or taste the wild strawberries. Call for brochures and area information.
