Log House Bed And Breakfast, The, Russellville, Kentucky
Russellville Kentucky Bed and Breakfast near Mammoth Cave
The Log House Bed and Breakfast is a unique building located two miles southeast of Russellville, Kentucky on Highway 100, Franklin Road. Russellville is situated just 30 miles west of Bowling Green Kentucky on Highway 68.
Although a relatively new building - construction began in 1976 - the house is built from hand-hewn logs recovered from old cabins and barns in the Logan County area. Many of the materials and interior fittings were also salvaged from old buildings in the surrounding area.
Decorated in an eclectic Early American style, the almost 8000 ft. house is furnished with antiques, auction finds, and folk-art from around the world. The available rooms are large and well appointed. All have private baths, and two are equipped with working fireplaces. The end result is a delightful alternative to the conventional accommodations found in the area.
Walking trails provide access to much of the 15 acres of mostly wooded property. As you walk the trails through the woods, you will enter a prairie remnant that contains many unique examples of Kentucky flora and fauna. This site has been set aside with the State of Kentucky for preservation, and has one of the largest stands of Blazing Stars in Kentucky. Many species of butterflies arrive in August to drink the nectar from these beautiful flowers.
A large swimming pool nestled in a meadow and surrounded by woods is available to guest during the summer months.
