1830 Hallauer House Bed & Breakfast, Oberlin, Ohio

Bed and Breakfast near Oberlin College and downtown Cleveland

Hallauer House is located on 2 1/2 acres in the country but just 2 miles south of the quaint college town of Oberlin.

The original part of Hallauer House was built in 1830 by Nathan Smith. Four years later the Samuel Wrightman family moved into the house and lived here during the Civil War. We are presently researching to find evidence that the house may have been a stop on the Underground Railroad route from Wellington to Oberlin. It is during this Civil War era that we have chosen as the theme for our inn. Stepping into the green room, named for Jefferson Davis of the Confederacy, a guest will immediately feel the grace and elegance of the south. Country charm of the rural north is evident across the hall in the red room, named for Abraham Lincoln. Throughout the house can be found Civil War memorabilia including, but not limited to Union and Confederate swords, historical books, papers, Confederate money, and period clothing.

Hallauer House offers guests a quiet, private retreat away from the big city. Come for a visit and learn a little about history, walk the garden paths, swim in the pool, relax and smell the roses. Remember the past as you enjoy the conveniences of today.
